For over ten years communities all over the Northland have experienced Day of Caring - a special day when volunteer teams help out community organizations with a variety of activities. Get Involved!! From painting and landscaping, to a trip to the zoo with children, these projects range in length from a few hours to a full day. There are also plenty of "stay put" projects for those who are unable to leave their business or home for the day. These include collection of hygiene products or making welcome baskets for homeless shelters to name a few. Last year over 400 volunteers completed 56 projects of all shapes and sizes. Please contact Sarah Butler at sbutler@unitedwayduluth.org in Duluth, or Kathi Madsen at kathim@unitedwayofsuperior.org in Superior. Here is what the volunteers and community organizations told us about the day: "It was a great day all around.
The projects completed for us are difficult to complete on our own. The
whole day was a success and we appreciate your hard work. Thank you! Thank
you!" "Every year we enjoy this so much!" "This was a good experience for
our clients at Goodwill Industries to be "mock" interviewed
at a real community business." "It was a great time and way to serve
our community." United Way would like to thank the volunteers and businesses who support local community organizations through Day of Caring. United Way also thanks the media for their support during this great event. We appreciate all of the time and coverage we receive. Through countless generous donations of time and skills for this years Day of Caring, volunteers show they care. In doing so, they proved what we knew all along – together, we can make a difference!
